I found it interesting that when this was made back in 1955, it cost about $4 million which made it the most expensive comedy film made to date. I was amazed to learn that it bombed at the box office--only brought in 2.2 million.
So why does this musical hold a special place in my heart? Well, I became a Danny Kaye fan as a result of watching White Christmas. I read a biography about him. I think I have actually read two biographies. I know there are lots of rumors out there about him, and I know that he was not always the nicest of guys. But no one can deny that he was one talented guy. This movie was the first time I ever saw him doing what he does best. His talent is one that was very unusual.
