"Sort It" Android App Game Review

I am always on the lookout for new apps and games that I can download and enjoy on my Android phone.  I was quite pleased to be invited to review "Sort It," and I will be sharing my honest review with you.  I was not compensated in any way, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.

I happily went here and downloaded it for free.  I actually don't generally download apps that I have to pay for.  I personally think free apps are the way to go whenever you can.  I generally like games where I have to  use various strategies and keep my brain active.

Your job is to try to figure out the relationships between various images and try to match them.  I thought it would be pretty easy.  The graphics were very clear, and I like the fact that the game did not look too busy.  I would have liked for the directions to be a little clearer.  I struggled with what I was supposed to do, but I figured it out as I played it.   

My real complaint with the game is that they do not give you the solution if you can't figure out.  I know that is the point of the game is to figure it out on your own, but I enjoy having a solution in case I can't get past a level.  If I need to push past a level, I would like a safety net.  But that's just me.

If you are looking for a game that will challenge you, and you easily see relationships between things, this just might be the game for you.

Wits & Wagers Party Game Review

I am so excited to get to share with you a fantastic game that your family and friends will love this holiday season--Wits & Wagers Party by North Star Games.  My mom, daughter, and I finally got a chance to play it tonight (we were sidetracked this weekend by the nation's tragedy), and this is a definite winner!  It is brought to you by the same company who gave you the popular Say Anything Game (this was a big hit for us last year).

This game has very simple rules, and it is suitable for all ages.  It is all about taking guesses on numbers, figures, and years.  Maybe you might know the answer, but more than likely you won't.  The topics cover a wide variety of things, and everyone gets to make a guess.  You can play on teams, or you can play as individuals.  Every person or group has a dry erase board and a marker (that has a built-in eraser--I like that feature).  You listen to the question, and then you take a guess.  You get to vote on which guess you think is closest without going over, and you get to place your wager.  When the answer is read, that is when you get to place your bet.

Make sure you follow the instructions.  My mom struggled to follow the instructions--it was an honest mistake--and she didn't understand the answers.  When you read the answer to the question, it gives you a number and then elaborates on the event.  Be sure to read the number--that is the answer!  My mom got a little bit confused and almost confused us.  My 9-year-old daughter figured it out!

I was fortunate to review "A Very Merry Golden Records Christmas."   I grew up with Christmas record albums.  In fact, I used to have a 400-some record collection.  I always loved the old records, and there was nothing like putting on the old LP's. This is definitely a step back to a simpler time.

I want to be very honest here.  While I love all the new stuff out there, and I find myself buying new Christmas albums each year, I get tired of what the modern musicians do to well-known loved Christmas songs.  When I am in the Christmas mood, I want to hear simple renditions of songs without all the jazzy elements and even the R & B sound.  There is nothing better than hearkening back to the old-time songs and listening to them.  It reminds me of when it was acceptable to wish people "Merry Christmas" and not be worried about offending anyone else.
