"Confessions of a Cereal Mother" by Rachel McClellan Blog Tour/Giveaway (Ends 3/17) U.S./WW

Confessions of a Cereal Mother
by Rachel McClellan

In this humorous memoir you’ll discover several mind-saving rules, which include:

- Don’t throw your pregnancy test away before the full three minutes is up.

- Unless there is a rush on the grocery store pending a zombie-virus outbreak, never take your kids shopping.

- If your toddler is going to chew on a Band-Aid, hope it’s one found inside the community swimming pools chlorinated pool and not one found in their locker room.

- Never throw up in a cookie sheet.

- Things can always get worse. You could discover your child playing with a used tampon applicator. It’s not a whistle, sweetie.

- And most importantly, the moment one of your children is seriously ill, forget about everything else. You have the greatest honor in the world – being a Mom.

What others are saying:

"A realistic and humorous take on motherhood. Are you in my house?" --Robin O'Bryant, author of Indie Best-seller, "Ketchup is a Vegetable and Other lies Moms Tell Themselves."

"Delightfully humorous with factual truths about motherhood and womanhood. You’ll immediately be hooked with her fun story-telling and hilarious hooks. A truly fantastic read that will not only lift your motherly spirit, but remind you what motherhood is truly all about… and it’s all worth it." --Karie Elordi, author of the popular blog "The Dating Divas"

Author Bio:

Once upon a time, in a wonderful and carefree world, Rachel McClellan fell asleep in a warm and spacious bed, her long hair in great locks around her, and not a single blemish upon her face. Outside her window, bluebirds sang and the cloudless blue sky was full of promise.

However, when she awoke she discovered gum in her now ratted hair, a tiny, chocolate fingerprint smeared across her forehead, and four very wiggly children crowding her bed. There were no bluebirds singing outside her window (or perhaps she couldn’t hear them anymore), only a tornado, pulsing with thunder and lightening. Her world was in chaos, a raging storm on all fronts.

But what a perfect storm it was…

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is the second book I have read by Debora M. Coty, and all I can say is WOW!  I always enjoyed Christian humorists Barbara Johnson and Patsy Clairmont, and if you like them, you are certain to like this book.  If you have ever experienced fear (and let's be honest--who hasn't), this is a book that will talk to you straight about overcoming it by the grace and intervention of God.  The stories she shares are quite touching, and it was all I could do to hold back my tears many times.  To see the goodness of God and the faith of His people truly brought me to my spiritual needs.

This book is written as a "small group study," and I wouldn't mind studying this book with a group of ladies.  There is a lot of theology in this book, but you will find a lot of humor.  her quotes are either poignant or hilarious.  I just have to share my favorite quote:

"If at first you don't succeed, skydiving it not for you!"

I would recommend this book to every woman in the church.  I learned so much, and I plan to go back to this book again and again.  I can hardly wait to read her next book!

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.  I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.

Debora Coty is an occupational therapist, a piano teacher, and a freelance writer. She’s also involved in the children’s ministry at her church and is an avid tennis player. Debora began writing to fill the void when her last child left for college, and it has since become a passion. Debora has a real knack for getting across sound biblical concepts with a refreshing lightheartedness as attested in her monthly newspaper column entitled “Grace Notes: God’s Grace for Everyday Living.”

"The Joy of Hate" by Greg Gutfeld Book Review

The Joy of Hate: How to Triumph over Whiners in the Age of Phony OutrageThe Joy of Hate: How to Triumph over Whiners in the Age of Phony Outrage by Greg Gutfeld
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Well, what can I say? This book is written by Greg Guntfeld, the co-host of "The Five" and "Red Eye" on Fox News. I became a big fan of his over the past year. I love the fact that he is funny, sarcastic, and completely irreverent. And his book is full of straight talk just like his reporting style. This is Greg Gutfeld uncensored, so be warned that there is a lot of profanity and issues that are covered that are completely inappropriate but necessary. If you have thin skin, this is not for you. He makes fun of everything and all sides of the issue. He is also a libertarian, but amazingly, he is basically conservative. I agree with him on almost everything. Honestly.

The most thought-provoking chapter concerned the government's all-out war on weight loss and eating healthily. I'm not trying to spoil anything for anyone, but let me just say that his contrasting weight loss and bedroom behavior made me stop and think about this issue in a completely different light. I never found myself getting angry at him during the book. What you see with Greg is what you get. You could often tell when he was being serious and when he was not. He speaks a lot of truth encased in humor and sarcasm. and you will not leave the book wondering what he thinks about certain issues. If you are ready to be challenged and possibly even offended, this is a definitely the book for you.

I own this book, and no one paid me anything to write this review. The author has no idea I own the book, and he doesn't even know who I am. So he did not influence my review in any way.

About the Author (from his website)

Greg Gutfeld has been called “outrageous and outspoken,” neither of which he denies. A libertarian political satirist, humorist, magazine editor and blogger, he is perhaps best known as the host of the Fox News Channel program “Red Eye With Greg Gutfeld.” Airing at 3 a.m. ET Tuesday through Saturday, the show covers a variety of topics, including news, entertainment, sports, and gossip. Gutfeld is also a host of FNC’s “The Five,” a weekday program at 5 p.m. ET.

The Weekly Standard calls him “the most dangerous man on television.” According to the magazine, unlike other media darlings, “Gutfeld’s stuff actually is subversive, a stink bomb hurled into every faculty lounge, mainstream newsroom, movie studio, and nonprofit boardroom in America.”

Prior to joining Fox, Gutfeld was a staff writer at Prevention and editor-in-chief of Men’s Health magazine. He later became editor-in-chief of Stuff, where he increased circulation from 750,000 to 1.2 million and created controversy month after month. He helmed Maxim magazine in the U.K., and was a contributor to the Huffington Post, where he became legendary for his “inspired, lunatic ridicule of his leftwing fellow Huffers.” He’s been published in countless magazines, has appeared in too many profiles to mention, and was only fingerprinted once.

He currently blogs on his own site, The Daily Gut, as well as Big Hollywood.com, where he writes about the news and pop culture of the day, from a conservative libertarian humorous slant. He’s appeared on dozens of TV shows, as a regular on “The O’Reilly Factor,” while also stopping by on Dennis Miller’s radio show and spots on “Opie and Anthony.”

He is the author of four books, among them, “The Bible of Unspeakable Truths,” which garnered praise and pithy quotes from the likes of Dennis Miller, Mike Huckabee, Ann Coulter and Andrew Breitbart, founder of BigGovernment.com and Breitbart.com, who said: “Trust me, you don’t want him setting his sights on your hypocrisy and public failings.” Consider yourself warned."

"To Be Perfectly Honest" by Phil Callaway Book Review

Summary (from goodreads):
Would I Lie to You? Not This Year.

Veteran author and speaker Phil Callaway is no stranger to daunting challenges. He has been laughed at—repeatedly—by large crowds of people from Halifax to Hong Kong. He fathered three children in three years, spent much of last year on airplanes built by the lowest bidder, and flipped an out-of-control ATV, which doesn’t mean he sold it for a profit. So who better than Phil Callaway to boldly accept a challenge that would make the average person run and hide?

Phil promised to tell the truth for an entire year, and he wasn’t joking. Twelve months later, his journal was crammed with successes, near-successes, and outright failures. During his year-long experiment with veracity, he made a disastrous financial investment, fielded hundreds of intrusive questions from friends and strangers, attended a thirty-year class reunion, and waded into possibly the most revealing—and hilarious—situations he has ever documented.

Find out what happens when a follower of Jesus does his level best toalways tell the truth. There is no doubt you’ll be entertained. But don’t be surprised if you are left with a question: how might your life be changed if you sold out to the truth—with no exceptions?

To Be Perfectly Honest: One Man's Year of Almost Living Truthfully Could Change Your Life. No Lie.To Be Perfectly Honest: One Man's Year of Almost Living Truthfully Could Change Your Life. No Lie. by Phil Callaway
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I have to admit that I found this book quite refreshing and funny.  Imagine challenging yourself to not tell a lie for an entire year.  Talk about your hard things to do!  We tell so many lies, and isn't that how comedians make their living?  I was impressed with Phil Callaway and his writing style, not to mention the fact that he actually took the assignment seriously.  I found myself sympathizing and seeing myself many times throughout the book.  I found myself thinking about all the lies I tell without thinking about it.  I think you will find this a delightful book, and it is a moment to just take a deep breath and truly think about your spiritual life.  But don't worry.  You'll do it with a smile on your face!

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.  I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
