Leapin' Lizards Blog Hop--Gevalia Coffee and Diva Cup (Ends 3/5) U.S.

Holy Moly!  It’s the Leapin Lizards hop, brought to you by How Was Your Day!  Did you know that during Leap Year, ladies can propose marriage to the fellows?  It’s true!  St Bridget started the tradition in 5th century Ireland and it has continued on to modern day.

Dulce Mio has generously provided a grand prize.  You can enter to win that here

For my prize, I will be giving away the following products to one winner.  Please read the reviews below.

My Blog Spark provided me with a great prize pack to review and then to give away.  Gevalia coffee is one I have often heard about but have never had a chance to try.

Gevalia Kaffe is much more than your average ‘cup of joe.’ It’s a Swedish-style break from the usual coffee grind. Perfected by the Swedes’ passion for quality coffee for more than 150 years, Gevalia is an exquisitely rich smooth coffee experience that is never bitter. Gevalia isn’t just coffee, it’s ‘Kaffe’ to savor.

  • The Swedes know a thing or two about coffee. They know quality coffee should be savored and enjoyed. They also know you deserve a more unique/special coffee experience than what you can pick up on every street corner.
  • Gevalia is a luxurious departure from the everyday, an escape from the routine cup of coffee. Whether it’s a morning ritual made just for you, or the finishing touch at a dinner party, it brings the taste of Swedish-style luxury into your home.
  • In Sweden, where the citizens drink more coffee than almost anywhere else in the world, Gevalia is their preferred brand.
    • In fact, Gevalia enjoys the honor of being an official coffee of the Swedish Royal Court.
Gevalia, now available at Safeway, brings unexpected Swedish-style luxury and rich, never bitter taste to the Safeway grocery aisle.
  • Gevalia has been refining the art of luxurious coffee since 1853 and has a deep history of finding and blending the finest Arabica coffee beans from locations around the world.
  • Gevalia is expertly made with carefully selected beans, ground extra fine, to produce a rich coffee experience.
  • Previously available online only, Gevalia is now offering its top-ten varieties in U.S. coffee supermarket aisles nationwide in 10 varieties, including roast and ground, whole bean, flavored and decaffeinated varietieGevalia Traditional Roast (ground and whole bean):
      • Gevalia Traditional Roast provides a perfectly balanced taste every time. Our most beloved blend – made of choice, mountain-grown Arabica beans – this coffee has a distinctive body and flavor with a lighter intensity. (Medium Roast).
      • Gevalia House Blend:
Gevalia favorite, House Blend is a robust yet never bitter coffee. This roast has a captivating aroma that is only matched by its exceptional flavor. (Medium/Dark Roast).
      • Gevalia House Blend Decaf :
Delivering the same rich, never bitter flavor, House Blend Decaf has the same robust taste without all the caffeine. (Medium/Dark Roast).
      • Gevalia French Roast (ground and whole bean):
Gevalia French Roast is a coffee of impressive richness and dimension, expertly crafted from prized Arabica beans grown in Colombia and Brazil. Hints of aromatic smoke give this dark-roasted French Roast blend an intense, yet uniquely satisfying flavor. (Dark Roast).
      • Gevalia Colombia:
Grown high in the Colombian Andes, these beans produce a rich, bright and well-bodied Colombian coffee. This single origin classic is world-renowned, which is why we have sourced these beans for decades. (Medium Roast).
      • Gevalia Espresso Roast:
Gevalia Espresso Roast is made of premium, mountain-grown Arabica beans from East Africa and Central and South America. This roast is bold and full-bodied with a hint of caramel undertones. (Dark Roast).
      • Gevalia Vanilla:
This rich blend with vanilla flavor notes is crafted from choice mountain-grown Arabica beans, then roasted for exceptional body and flavor. GevaliaVanilla is a flavorful and balanced experience with a heavenly aroma.
      • Gevalia Chocolate Mocha:
Gevalia Chocolate Mocha allows you to indulge your passion for decadent flavor. Rich, velvety chocolate flavor is blended with mountain-grown Arabica beans for a sweetly satisfying experience.
With its Swedish heritage and rich, never bitter taste, Gevalia is a premium coffee unlike any other.
    • Having Gevalia in your kitchen means you care about the quality of the coffee you consume and enjoy rich, authentic flavors.
    • Gevalia offers a variety of authentic rich flavors that are perfect for everything from a relaxing morning cup of coffee to an indulgent after dinner compliment.
I had the privilege of trying their French Roast and their House Blend Coffee.  My mom and I both drink coffee every morning, and we prefer dark roasts.  So we loved the French Roast!  Honestly, it was as good if not better than our normal coffee (you can imagine what my preferred band is).  We were not as keen on the House Blend, but we are not big fans of medium roast.  As for the branded cup, it was exactly what my mom needed for an espresso cup.  She has used it several times.

I am familiar with this brand, and it is exciting to note that it will now be available in stores.  Check out where to find it here.

The Diva Cup is probably one of the most unusual things I have ever had to review.  I have heard of reusable menstrual products in the past, but I have never had the opportunity to review it.  Here is some background information about the product:

The DivaCup Features:
The DivaCup, a menstrual alternative, ends hassles with unreliable disposable tampons and sanitary pads in endless absorbencies, shapes and styles. This makes it perfect for all activities. Read more…

Menstrual Cup History and Our Story:
The menstrual cup was developed in the 1930’s. It was first made from latex rubber (an allergen for many)...  The DivaCup Team has over 38 years of combined experience in natural feminine hygiene alternatives.

Quality and Standards:
The DivaCup is the only menstrual cup allowed for sale in Canada by Health Canada. It also holds market approval by the U.S. FDA, and is the only menstrual cup to achieve the rigorous ISO 13485 certification.

Be a "Green" Diva:  The DivaCup, an innovative menstrual cup, is reusable making it an environmentally responsible choice as important as switching from plastic to canvas bags! Disposable tampons and pads create billions of units of disposable waste that is dumped into landfills each year.

Menstrual Health Worldwide:  We are all aware of the difficult plight of women in developing countries. Most of these women face challenges in dealing with their monthly cycle, and they do not have adequate feminine hygiene protection options.

I will tell you that when I first tried this, I put it in upside down--I know that sounds funny.  But it did happen.  It was also painful to insert properly until I put some water on it to act as lubricant.  Once I inserted it, it took a little bit of time, and then I practically forgot that I was wearing it.  I did wear a pantyliner in the event of leaks (and there were some).  Taking it out was fine once I got the hang of it, but it was a bit messy.  It does get easier the more you use it.  It is not fun to clean it, but it is economical.  And it does catch a lot of the blood.

My thoughts are somewhat mixed.  I am not completely sold.  It is not an easy product to use, and I don't know how practical it is to use it away from home.  It does take some getting used to.  I think in time it will work better.  I used it a little bit this past period, and I will probably use it a little next month.  It takes time to use new products.  It is certainly better than a tampon, but I am not sure about it.

I was concerned that I would struggle to urinate with the Diva Cup inside.  No problem, whatsoever. It says you can leave it in safely for 10 hours.  I haven't used it for that long.  So my feelings are somewhat mixed.

You can buy the Diva Cup here.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

One of my U.S. readers will win both products.  All you need to do is enter in the rafflecopter form by March 5 at 9 P.M. Pacific Time.

Kraft Foods through MyBlogSpark has provided sample product to me and is providing the prizes for this program at no cost to me. This program is not administered by Kraft Foods or its affiliates, but solely by My Devotional Thoughts.
