French-milled plant oil soap made in Australia Review

I always love to find new beauty products, and there are some fantastic companies out there that produce amazing products.  And this is indeed one of them.  I was sent three fantastic soaps that are made of plant oil.  That's right!  The three scents I got to try were Lemon Myrtle, Ocean Beach and French Pear.  The scents were magnificent, but I have to admit that I was initially skeptical when I saw "vegetable oil" as one of the ingredients.  I have tried all sorts of soaps, but vegetable oil soap?

The first thing I noticed is that these wonderful soaps got a lot of lather when I used them in the shower.  I am used to soaps that have lotion in them, and usually there is very little lather.  Not so with these.  And they really did feel good on my skin.  According to their site, you will use less lotion since plant oil does not dry out your skin as much.  I believe they're right.  I have used other soaps and shower gels that contain lotion, and some of them really did dry my skin out (even though they are supposed to moisturize your skin).

These French-milled (long-lasting) soaps feel good on my skin, and the scents are absolutely wonderful!  If you are looking for a special gift for the lady in your life (think Valentine's Day), this just may be the thing to surprise her!

In a very short time, I will be posting a giveaway (I'm a little behind), but I had a couple reviews still to do, so I figured I would post this first.

I had the pleasure of reviewing a wonderful product called KidsLac.  My daughter is one who has had digestive issues almost from day one.  We supplement her diet already with Fiber, and constipation has been an issue now and then.  I was glad to discover this product because it targets the child's digestive system and works to make it healthy.  How does it do that?  Read on!

KidsLac contains five strains of healthy bacteria to help kids' digestion to run smoothly.  This is probiotics for kids with a twist.  How many times has your child cringed at the thought of yet another vitamin or pill they have to take?  I don't remember how many supplements my daughter takes per day, and adding one would just make her groan.

When you take one of these little packets, your kids will not equate this with vitamins and pills.  Why?  They are little packets with sour-apple-flavored sugar crystals!  Your child can eat the packets like candy, or you can still them into yogurt or fruit drinks.  Your children won't even know they are partaking of something healthy.

I will warn you that your child may not be instantly smitten with KidsLac.  My daughter loves sour candy, but she almost could not ingest the packet the first time she tried it.  I had to contact the company (and they were very gracious), and they advised me on how to get her to take it.  And when I stirred it into vanilla-flavored yogurt, she was willing to eat it.  She said she still could taste it, but I could tell that continuing to work with her and get her used to KidsLac would work.  My daughter is nine, and she has always been a picky eater.  We had the same problem a while back when we introduced a new supplement, and she did not like one of the flavors.  In time, she learned to accept it, and it is no longer a problem.  So that is what we are doing with KidsLac, and each time she tries it, it gets easier.  And for the record, I tried them, too, and the flavor does take some getting used to.  It's not bad-tasting--just different.

What are the benefits of probiotics?  Especially with kids, it helps them absorb the nutrients in their foods better.  It also boosts their immune system.  And if your child has been prescribed antibiotics, probiotics are essential to rebuilding the good bacteria in your child's system.

I also had the opportunity to review an amazing amount of products from Goat Milk Stuff.  This is a much tardier review that I would like for it to have been since somehow my order did not get filled, and then it did, and then they ran out of the item, and then it finally arrived with extra stuff!

Goat Milk Stuff makes the absolutely best goat's milk soap on the earth.  Since we now own four goats (and we don't milk them), I am even more intrigued by their products.  The founders of the company originally bought two goats in 2005 with the idea of providing raw milk for their family.  By 2008, they expanded, and their goats follow a strict diet which includes no hormones or antibiotics.  You can rest assured that the items you are receiving are the finest in the country if not the world!

The prize package I received was so large that I have not had a chance to review everything.  The box smelled so good as I opened it, and I was completely blown away by how wonderful everything was.  I am still using the first product I tried--the Lavender Essential Oil Soap!  

I am not a fan of bar soap, but I love this stuff!  I use it at the end of each shower to put moisture into my skin.  I tend to have dry skin, and even when I use lotion after the shower, I often have itchy skin.  I can honestly say I no longer have that problem.  It is just like rubbing lotion on my skin when I use this at the end of the shower.  I lather up (and the soap lathers really well), and when I rinse off, my skin is protected and moisturized.  This is really nice after my legs have been shaven because they are often quite sensitive and sometimes even nicked.  This helps my skin to heal quickly.

I look forward to trying the rest of the soaps, the lip balm, and the scented bath fizzy!  The fragrance in of itself is amazing, and they have practically any scent you can imagine!

Bead For Life Review--Shea Butter Lip Balm and Soap

I am so pleased to be reviewing something yet again from Bead for Life.  Last time, I reviewed a bracelet.  When I had the opportunity to work with them again, I jumped at the chance.

Bead for Life is a nonprofit organization that works to erase poverty and empower women in Uganda.  Shea butter in Uganda is known as "Women's Gold." They sell products made with their exquisite Shea butter in order to meet their critical needs.  There are currently 760 women who are attempting to rebuild their lives through the BeadForLife Shea Project.  It makes me feel so good to work with a company that helps women and their families get out from under the burden of poverty.

Pictured above are two of the products I was privileged to review.  First, I reviewd the Shea Butter Lip Balm, and I used it at the ideal time.  My lips were really feeling chapped and dry--our weather has been crazy lately. And the moment I put this on, my lips felt fantastic!  I am not one who likes lip balm.  I only ever found one other brand I liked, but this is now one brand that I will come back to again and again!  I may just have to get it for everyone this Christmas!

Then I reviewed the Shea Butter soap.  Well, what can I say?  I am not a big soap fan, but I decided that I would use it in my shower.  I prefer shower gel, and I rarely use soap.  I was immediately taken with the little bits of rough parts in the soap.  And the smell was heavenly!  The soap lathered well, and I think I would have no problem with using this soap regularly in place of my shower gel.  It was amazing.  I even used it after I shaved my legs, and it was a fantastic moisturizer for my legs.

In conclusion, I can highly recommend the Bead for Life products (and company, for that matter),  It feels good to support an organization like this, and it is great to be able to let my readers know that their products are very high quality.

The Joy of Melt and Pour Soap Crafting by Lisa Maliga

When I began reading this book, I was completely unfamiliar with soap making in general.  I had thought about doing it before, but there was little motivation or interest.  I almost reluctantly accepted this review thinking I may not enjoy it.  I figured I would be reading a technical book with little application.

All I can say is--wow, was I ever wrong!  This is one of the most practical craft books I have ever had the pleasure to read.  This author knows her topic, and she does not hold back on her secrets and methods.  I do not think there is a topic in melt and pour soap making that she does not cover.  In fact, I can say that I am interested in doing this with my daughter this summer as a result of reading this book.

I loved the fact that she covered absolutely everything possible (maybe she left some things out, but if she did, it wasn't much)that you could mix into the soap.  She explained the benefits and pitfalls of each of these items.  She pointed out mistakes to avoid.  And her recipes and pictures were phenomenal.  Adding wine to soap?  I have never heard of that, and she was the one to have great success with this.

So if you have interest in melt and pour soap making (or even if you do not), be sure to check out this book. Anyone can make soaps, and she will tell you how to do it!
