Rock 'N Learn Ready For School DVD Review

I am back with another wonderful review of a Rock 'N Learn DVD!  This is the fourth review I have done of one of their DVD's, and if you haven't guessed it, I am a fan!  I love the fact that they integrate music into learning.  Since I am a former music teacher (and I sometimes get to sub in that area), I love what this company does.  They have a wide array of DVD's for children that cover everything from preschool learning to math to science to social studies to other languages!  There is nothing better than putting on a DVD for your children that actually teaches them something.

This is the DVD my daughter and  reviewed.  Now you have to understand something.  My daughter is nine, and we reviewed this with the idea that we would be giving this to one of her younger friends.  We know a little boy who is very active--he is the brother of my daughter's best friend--and he is three, if I remember right.  We watched this with him in mind.  And we are certain that he would love it.  Actually, my daughter was pretty enraptured with it even though she is much older.  There is something about the music and the graphics that draw kids in.  She loved the alphabet at one point and said it was really cool how they did it.

This DVD is a little different from the other Rock 'N Learn DVD's I have seen.  It is geared towards preschoolers, and it is intended to get them ready for school.  It teaches skills such as tying shoes and buttoning shirts.  It also teaches some basic skills like shapes, counting, and the alphabet.

As you can see, this is only available until the end of the month at Sam's Club, so if you want it, you need to get it now!  Even if your children are too old for this, think of how neat this would be for a little boy or girl in your life.  I can assure you that any mother with children aged 2-5 would love this.  And the price is very reasonable.  This will be a DVD that will be watched again and again, and it will actually teach the kids something!

Rock 'N Learn Sight Words Level 2 DVD Review

I absolutely love Rock 'N Learn, and whenever I have a chance to work with them, I always do.  Why?  Well, I am a music teacher, and I think that any time you use music to teach concepts, you score points with me.  The two founders (Richard and Brad Coudle) saw firsthand how kids responded to music and multi-sensory learning.  Richard was a school psychologist, and Brad was an musician.  Therefore, when the two of them combined their talents to create this line of DVD's, it was absolute genius!  And the awards keep from coming from all over--Parent's Choice, Teacher's Choice, and the list goes on.  This is a company that has been able to capture the imagination and interest of children and still teach them something!

My daughter and I had the opportunity to review their new Sight Words Level 2 DVD.  Take into account that my daughter is nine and going into fourth grade, but she is always gracious enough to agree to review products and books for younger kids.  So she did.

She found this DVD thoroughly entertaining.  I had to remind her a couple of times that this was for younger kids.  She enjoyed and connected with the characters.  She had a few criticisms here and there about the graphics and the pace, but again, it is for younger kids.  And she agreed that had she been in kindergarten, she would have loved this!  I found it entertaining and funny at times.  The characters are engaging, and I only wish that I would have had access to this DVD when my daughter was a toddler--she would have truly connected with it then.

This is a DVD that will appeal to young children, and they will barely realize that they are learning valuable sight words.  I plan to pass my DVD on to my daughter's school since I know that the teachers are always looking for fun, educational DVD's.

Rock 'N' Learn Multiplication DVD Review and Giveaway (Ends 6/6) U.S. (or Ipad App--WW)

I have been fascinated with the company Rock 'N' Learn for some time.  I know that they produce high-quality DVD's that make learning fun for kids.  Since I was a music teacher for a number of years, I know from my own experience what an impact music can have on kids.  I can remember once having to teach students the alphabet backwards, and because they were singing it, they were able to do it (I learned it too!).


What I appreciate so much about this company is that they make the music current and use a lot of colorful characters to capture the children's attention.  My daughter can sit in front of one of their DVD's for hours and just be completely mesmerized--even when she already knows all the answers!


I had the privilege to review the Multiplication Rap DVD from this company, and I was so pleased to receive it.  So was my 8-year-old daughter.  This was the year in school (third grade) where they learned their multiplication facts.  She has become a really good math student, and I was pretty sure she would find the DVD very entertaining.  And I was exactly right!


The very day it came in, I put it on, and I have to admit, I was quite riveted myself.  My daughter loves rap, but most of the rap out there is entirely inappropriate.  She was happy to be able to watch the video, listen to rap, and interact with the multiplication facts.  Okay, I was, too!  In fact, I think I began to interact with it before she did.  There is a point in the DVD where they ask you to say the answer to the problems, and I was the first one to respond.  She soon followed suit.


We also watched the special features, and she learned all sorts of different tricks to help her with multiplication facts.  Okay, I watched it, too!  Here I am almost 38 years old, and I was being entertained by a kid's DVD!  It must be good!


The story doesn't end here, though.  My mom suggested that we send the DVD to school, and my daughter was pretty excited about it.  Her third grade teacher played it during their lunchtime, and at first the kids were thinking it was for babies.  However, as the facts became harder, she said the kids got into it and really enjoyed it.  I have decided to gift it to the teacher.  Not because I don't like it but because my daughter will not sit down and watch it again on her own.  And I know that her teacher could use it for years to come and share it with other teachers.





Rock 'N' Learn doesn't just have DVD's--it has also has Ipad Apps.  This amazing DVD is also available as a Multiplication Rap App.  I don't have an Ipad (I wish!), but I know that many of you out there do.  And I am sure that if you do, your children sometimes get a chance to use it.  And wouldn't it be great to have an educational app on there instead of just a mindless game app for them?  And if you are in the market for more apps from them, click here.
