Chatimal Talking Bear Review (from Treat Him/Treat Her

Isn't this just the most darling thing in the world?  Let me introduce you to Chatimal Talking Bear, a great gift idea from Treat Her.  I had the great joy of having my daughter review this darling item, and let me verify to all of my readers that this was a tremendous hit with my daughter (me, too!).  This cute bear is one of those electronics that repeats back what you say to it.  All you need to do it press the paw of the bear, and a red light come on.  While that light is on, it is recording what you say.  After about ten seconds, it repeats back to you what you have said.  Then it records again, and repeats what you say.  This happens about five times in succession.  Your cue that it is recording is the illuminated red light.  Indeed this is something that will pique the interest of all members of your family--including your animals!  Our cats were fascinated by it, and our dog was somewhat frightened by it.

Now, don't worry.  There is a button that switches this bear off and on.  And thankfully, the battery is easy to replace.  I don't like products like this that have specialized batteries or batteries that are difficult to change.  This is the ideal gift for the child in your family (or the adult that is a child at heart).  It is cute and affordable, and it will give the recipient hours of fun!

If this item does not interest you, there are plenty more gifts available at Treat Him, Treat Her.  You can find everything from personalized gifts to wines to just about anything you can imagine.  And if you can't find it on Treat Her, check out Treat Him as well!  For your convenience, they accept paypal (as well as other forms of payment), and they ship internationally.

Be sure to like both sites on facebook to keep up with the most current promotions.

Rendi Style--Unique Personalized Gifts--Review

I am so excited to tell you about a wonderful company called Rendi Style.  I am always looking for unique, personalized gift ideas for my family and friends, and this company has that and more!  The easiest thing in the world is to go to the store and get the mass-produced gift for your loved ones, but that always seems so cold.  I have always been one of those people who like personalized gifts.  I used to make Christmas gifts, but my schedule does not permit that any more.  So the next best thing is to pay someone to create a gift.  And what can be better than combining pictures with a truly unique keepsake.

Rendi is a company that truly does work to provide that special, one-of-a-kind gift for those most special to you.  All you do is pick the item you would like to design and add the personalization on the website.  Then the company designs this gift for you (and they even say that what you see on the website will not look identical to the item you receive).  There is something truly personal about that for me.  It tells me that the company truly cares about their customers!

And that is not the only way "Rendi Cares."  They support a charity that supplies clean drinking water to communities around the world that need it.  And the company even involves the customers themselves in the charity-giving process.  Read more about their involvement in charity: water here.

The picture above shows you how the items arrived to me.  They were almost too pretty to unwrap!  And I plan to use that very wrapping when I give the following items as Christmas presents.

The item pictured above is for my brother and sister-in-law for Christmas.  I love the fact that pictures can be easily exchanged, and I enjoyed personalizing the message "We Love, We Share."  One thing my brother and sister-in-law enjoy doing is going on motorcycle trips together.  I really enjoyed designing this for them, and I think they will enjoy it.  I know I would!

This was a plaque that I designed for my mom.  I was pleased to find the wonderful quotes from which I could choose (I just didn't feel creative when I was designing these).  I thought the quote was perfect for my mom, and I am glad that it came with hardware so she can hang it on the wall easily.  I know my mom will find a special place to hang this up.

I forgot to mention the wonderful smell these creations have!  They are strong, sturdy, and the wood smells wonderfully natural.  I can hardly wait to give these gifts at Christmas--the waiting is sometimes interminable. But at least they are wrapped well, and no one knows where to find them but me.

If you are looking for that unique, one-of-a-kind gift for any occasion, don't forget to check out Rendi.  And follow them on facebook and twitter for the most current news.

I received this product through Karma Media in exchange for my honest review.

"Open House" Gift for My Daughter's Teacher

I am one of those parents who always believes in truly celebrating my daughter's teachers.  Since I was in the classroom for all those years (I know I'm a sub now, but I have not forgotten), I know how often teachers are not appreciated and only contacted when there is something wrong.  I am one of those parents who likes to go beyond the norm and truly let the teachers know they are appreciated and loved in unusual ways.

One of these ways is something I started last year.  There is an Open House every year at my daughter's school the week before classes begin, and I rely on my fellow bloggers for ideas.  Last year, it was the First Day of School Survival Kit.  I really didn't think I would be able to top last year--her teacher loved it!  But here is what we are doing this year:

This is a Teacher School Supply Cake, and it is not my idea.  Check out this blog post for a complete tutorial.  I follow the tutorial fairly closely, and I have to admit that I thought it was going to be more difficult than it was.  But I will tell you that from start to finish, it only took about 30-45 minutes.  It probably took more time to get all the supplies.  I used a foam cozy ($1 at Walmart) for the pencil holder.  My daughter had the most fun putting the flowers on it.
I think she is pretty proud of her accomplishments!  I can hardly wait for my daughter's teacher to see this!  She has the same teacher as she did last year, so I am sure she will be surprised.  And I expect that all the other teachers might be just a bit jealous!

Free-Wheeling Friday--Holiday Cookie Review

A few days ago, I received a very special item to review--Smiley Sugar and Gingerbread cookies, and what you see in the picture is exactly what they looked like! This was perfect timing seeing how Thanksgiving was just around the corner.  What a perfect time to share this Christmas cookie gift with my family!

My daughter was the first one who got try one of these fabulous cookies.  She chose the Christmas tree cookies.  She said they were the best sugar cookies she ever ate.  In fact, she had another one today after Thanksgiving dinner.  My mom said they were good and not overly sweet, but she did prefer another kind.

Which brings me to my mother's choice of cookies (and mine too!):  gingerbread smiley cookies!  We both loved these--my daughter enjoyed them, too.  I liked the fact that they were not too sweet nor too strong on ginger.  They were absolutely perfect!

I have never thought of sending a holiday cookie gift, but I have to say that these would be absolutely perfect for gift-giving.  The cookies are fresh, large, and taste really good.  Who wouldn't want to send something like this to a friend or family member?

Perhaps you are still skeptical about sending a gourmet Christmas gift such as this.  Sometimes we find ourselves complaining about the prices and the fact that once an item like this is eaten, it is gone--there is nothing left as a memento.  But think for a minute.  When you think of the holidays, don't you often think about special foods that you have had or enjoyed?  Isn't that an integral part of the season?  I think the answer is yes!  Why not give a gift like this and give that special person in your life a special food memory of the season?

I do have really good news for you!  Anyone reading this who "likes" Smiley's facebook page will automatically receive a coupon for 20% off any of their Holiday Cookie Gifts and Baskets.  Think about it.  You can go online, and get all your shopping done now!  It couldn't be easier.  After all, you don't really want to go fight the crowds of Black Friday, do you?

I hope you honestly take advantage of this offer and check this fantastic company out.  I had heard of them before, but if wasn't until this review happened that I actually tried them for myself.  As far as I am concerned, I am sold!  I think I may do some holiday shopping there myself.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

First Day of School Survival Kit (sharing from Keep Life Creative)

As I was preparing to get my daughter into the back-to-school frame of mind, I stumbled upon a great idea.  Keeping Life Creative had a fantastic idea for making teacher survival kits.  Now when I used to teach, they generally did something like this for it, but it was pretty small.  What I loved about her idea was that it contained items a teacher would actually want.  And it actually had a theme.

Last week, my daughter went to Open House at school and met her new teacher.  I had already e-mailed the teacher, but I thought my daughter might really enjoy giving this to her new teacher.  So we went off to the store with the list provided on the site. I did make a couple changes.  My daughter wanted to get her teacher a coffee cup.  And then when I couldn't find Laffy Taffy, I substituted with some sour patch gummies and some good 'n' plenty.  I made up little captions to go with the new items--I think something about having good and plenty good times and for when the class has a sour note.  I put it in a gift bag and printed out her printable to decorate the bag.

When we presented it to the teacher, the teacher was blown away!  She went through and read everything on the paper, and she gave my daughter a hug.  And she e-mailed me on Thursday to say that she shared everything in faculty meeting the next day.  I would say I have gone a long way to fostering a good relationship with that teacher!

I have to admit that I have never done something like this at open house before, but I plan to do it in the future.  I am so glad I happened to find this post.  Thank you Keeping Life Creative!
