On this date in 1928, my favorite children's television icon was born--Fred Rogers. When I was growing up, he had an incredible impact on me, and I read a biography him that really inspired me. I continued to watch him (on the sly) through junior high, high school, and even as an adult. I e-mailed a fan letter to him before his death in 2003, and I even received an actual reply back. I told him I was praying for him, and he said I was in his prayers as well. That truly meant a lot to me at the time. I think I still have that somewhere.
I so wish that children's television was like it was back then. Oh well.

Mr. Rogers was a humble giant whose show has not been matched since. I miss him. Thank you for posting such a wonderful article. :)
ReplyDeleteI and my children loved him so. And I too wish children's T.V. was like it was back then. That was a wonderful man and a great children's television show.
ReplyDeleteI loved him as a kid!
