Fairy Tale Giveaway Hop
Hosted by
When it comes to fairy tales, sometimes I really like them, and sometimes I don't. I like a lot of the classic ones, but when they turn sappy or really strange, then I am through reading them.
As I looked through books I have read that might have some fairy tale tie-ins, I found the following ones (click on the picture to read my review on goodreads)
You will probably notice that only this last one has a 5-star rating--I warned you about my taste in fairy tales! Maybe I am too jaded or expect more realism. Not all of these have fairies in them (okay, none of them do), but I feel all would be loosely tied to fairy tales in some way. Actually, there's another one I just thought of which also received a 5-star rating.
So for my giveaway, one international reader (as long as the Book Depository and/or Fishpond ships to you) will win one of the books featured here or any book somehow related to a fairy tale. You can loosely connect it--I'll trust you!
Please enter on the rafflecopter below by 9 P.M. Pacific time on April 2, and you are in to win. Be sure to hop on to the other blogs for even more chances to win more books!

I love fairy tales. Do you watch Once Upon A Time? SO good!
ReplyDeleteA different look at fairy tales told to me by a mom I volunteered with. She did not encourage her daughter to read them because she felt the handsome prince rescuing the princesses and they lived happily ever after sent a false message to little girls about real life and men. Just thought I would pass that along!
ReplyDeleteI thoroughly enjoy reading "rewrites" of fairy tales just to see how the authors "change" things. My favorite fairy tale is Shrek~ I know that's odd but to me it invokes to children that you don't have to be beautiful or perfect to be happy. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

my favorite is the story of cinderella! :)
ReplyDeleteI love fairy tales. I actually wrote a paper for my Literary Non-Fiction class about the resurgence of fairy tales in popular culture. This was last year when the two movies based on "Snow White" came out along with the tv show "Once Upon a Time…" and then "Cinder" came out. It was quite an explosion of fairy tales in mediums. I concluded that because of the rough economic times, people were grasping for something to escape to. In fairy tales, the impossible happens. The disenfranchised become the heroes and heroines. They rise to power and usually become a King or Queen. We are still clinging to the American dream and through the use of fairy tales we get to live that dream. As far as my favorite fairy tale goes, I love "Beauty and the Beast." I love it so much that I have thought seriously about naming my first daughter Belle. In books, I love retellings of fairy tales like "Cinder" and "Ella Enchanted." In TV, the show "Beauty and the Beast" on the CW is one of my favorites and in movies, I loved "Mirror, Mirror," "Beastly" and "The Wizard of Oz." Also, a big fan of the musical "Wicked."
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
