The Fate Of A Marlowe Girl by Beth Fred
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This story was a pleasant surprise for me. First of all, I think this would be classified as a novella or short story--you will not invest a great deal of time in reading it. It is less than 50 pages! And usually I would mark a book down for being so short because most authors cannot write a well-developed story in such a limited number of pages. But you see, I had never read Beth Fred before. I believe this author is amazing! She packed so much into a short story that I forgot I was not reading a regular romance novel.
The things I love about this book are quite numerous. This book has it all--the upright, uptight older sister; the bad girl younger sister; the romantic hero; a beautiful Mexican setting; even a bit of mystery and chance meeting. There are no sex scenes, and the profanity is practically nonexistent (if it is even there at all). I loved the story, and I could see this becoming an actual full-length romance novel and not spoiling the charm of the story. I love to see two characters with morals--it is so rare in this day and age. And it never came across as being sappy.
I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
