Shari Arison's new book Activate Your Goodness: Transforming the World Through Doing Good, describes how doing good brings about positivity for yourself, those around you, and the world at large. In this new book, Shari Arison is candid about her own personal stories and also provides examples from others who have made a difference by thinking, speaking and doing good.
The book inspires and empowers people, organizations and businesses to connect to goodness and do good deeds for the benefit of others.
Results of a new, nationwide survey conducted by GfK Custom Research, indicated among other findings that:
  • 4 out of 5 adult Americans (82%) would definitely / probably participate in a day out of the year dedicated to doing good deeds.
  • Half of adult Americans (52%) strongly agree that people coming together to do a good deed, on one day out of the year, can make a difference to society.
  • 1 out of 3 adult Americans (32%) report doing a good deed for someone whom they did not know, in the past day.

Shari Arison is an American-Israeli businesswoman and philanthropist. Born in the United States in 1957, she is the daughter of Mina Arison Sapir and American-Israeli businessman Ted Arison, founder of Carnival Cruise Lines.
Shari Arison has a major beneficial interest in Carnival Corporation, the world’s largest cruise company, serving twice on its board of directors.
She leads the Arison Group, a global business and philanthropic group. The group’s business arm, Arison Investments, is made up of the pillars of the Israeli economy, including Bank Hapoalim, Israel’s largest bank, Shikun & Binui, a global real estate and infrastructure company, and Salt of the Earth, the leading salt manufacturer in Israel. She is also the founder of Miya, Arison Investment’s global water company, spearheading water-use efficiency in global urban water distribution systems.
The group’s philanthropic arm includes The Ted Arison Family Foundation, committed to addressing the needs of the community in Israel through social investments and strategic philanthropy. The foundation houses several vision ventures initiated by Shari Arison: Essence of Life – heightening awareness and providing tools for attaining inner peace, All One –  generating a global conversation of a new reality that enunciates the message “We are all connected, we are all part of one”, Matan – an affiliate of United Way International, and Goodnet – an online platform for Doing Good. The foundation adopted Ruach Tova (Good Spirit) that encourages volunteerism in Israel. In this framework, Shari Arison initiated International Good Deeds Day, annually giving people in Israel and around the world the opportunity to simply do a good deed for the benefit of others.
From the early 1990s until 2009, Shari Arison served as the chairman of the Arison Group, Arison Investments, The Ted Arison Family Foundation, and established and chaired Essence of Life, and All One.
In 2009, Arison’s book, Birth – When the Spiritual and the Material Come Together, was published in Hebrew in Israel, where it immediately became a bestseller. Birth was published in the United States in English, and translated into additional languages worldwide.
In August 2012, Arison was ranked No. 64 on Forbes World’s Most Powerful Women, the only Israeli on this list.  It is the second year in a row she is ranked in this prestigeous listing (in August 2011, she was No. 57), and in April 2010, Arison was No. 2 on Forbes World’s Greenest Billionaires in recognition of “her contributions to the environment, both in Israel and throughout the world, which she puts into practice in her business dealings.” In 2008, she was listed on Forbes World’s Most Influential Women, and is repeatedly ranked by the magazine as one of the world’s wealthiest women.
Shari Arison was chosen as Woman of the Year by Globes, one of Israel’s leading financial newspapers, in both 2007 and 2009.
In 2010, she received the America-Israel Friendship League’s Partners for Democracy Award in recognition of her contribution to advancing economic relations between the United States and Israel.
In 2005, she was named Honorary Fellow of the Decade at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, where she has been serving as a board member since 2007.
Shari Arison is the mother of four and resides in Israel.
