This Day in History June 25, 1998

It was on this date in 1998 that Windows 98 was released by Microsoft.  This was the first Windows designed especially for consumers.  It was also the first appearance of the Quick Launch Bar.

I think Windows 98 was the first system I ever used.  And the first computer I ever used was a reconditioned Gateway, and it had Windows 98  installed on it.  I never had any problems with Windows 98.  Sometimes I wonder if the Microsoft upgrades really have made any difference.  I still use Windows XP on a couple of my computers, and I am still pleased with it.  I use Windows Vista on this lap top, and I don't like it all that well, though it works better than it used to.

  1. Great little trivia fact for the day. Windows 98 was the first system I ever used too and never had any problems with it either. Wasn't very fond of Vista myself. I am using Windows 7 now and it's a bit glitchy too!
