This Day in History June 6, 1833

Well, I didn't know this one.  Maybe you did?  It was on this date in 1833 that President Andrew Jackson got on a train. It was his first time, but guess what.  He was the first president to ride a train!  It was a simple 12-mile trip on a Baltimore and Ohio train.

Be sure to check out the site that has a lot of trivia about this fascinating president.  Love him or hate him (I am not a fan of this president), there are a lot of unique facts about him, and this just happens to be one of them.

The question comes to my mind--was President Jackson worried while on this trip?  He was the first president to ride a train, and I am sure there had been accidents in the past.  And was there anyone else on the train, or was he by himself?  No secret service back then--imagine!
