Litfuse Publicity Blog Tour: "Cradle My Heart" by Kim Ketola Book Review and Women Redeemed Live Webcast

Welcome to the blog tour for Cradle My Heart. Kim’s tender book about “finding God’s love after abortion” is a much needed resource. Here are just some of the staggering statistics about abortion:
* It is estimated that 13% of abortions are performed on self-described ‘born again’ or evangelical Christians
* The Alan Guttmacher Institute (AGI) reports that 46% of aborting women identify themselves as Protestant and an additional 27% identify themselves as Catholic. If true, these statistics reveal that more than 70% of all abortions in the United States are performed on Christian women.
* 85% of women say abortions cause mental health issues, including sorry, sadness, guilt, regret, grief, and disappointment

Abortion continues to be a hot topic in politics, women’s rights, and medical practice. But for the eight to ten million American Christian women who have had one, abortion is a spiritual issue as well, raising questions of life and death, heaven and hell, grief and loss.
Writing from her own experience, Kim Ketola sheds light on one of the darkest and most neglected personal issues of our time: the widespread need for healing and spiritual recovery after abortion. “After abortion brought the worst trouble into my life I had ever known,” writes Ketola, “I just couldn’t see my way free to believe in God’s love.”
With a compassionate heart, Ketola offers ten true stories of healing promise from the Bible to help women answer the most common spiritual torments they face: Is abortion a sin? Does God hate me? Where can I turn in my shame and distress? How could I ever tell anyone the truth? And more.
Inspired by Romans 6:4–“just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life”–this is a definitive resource to help women see themselves and God anew and–finally–to find spiritual healing.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Let me preface this review by saying I have never had an abortion, and I only have known someone minimally who did.  She never talked much about it.  Abortion is something I feel very strongly about.  I am completely against it under any circumstances.  And I suppose that because I feel this way, I would not be the best one to counsel or speak with one who has had an abortion.

This book does what I could never do--speak to those who have had abortion with mercy, grace, and love.  The author herself speaks from experience.  She had an abortion, and she knew it was wrong.  It is something that she had to deal with through her life, and God has given her amazing ministry.

I was impressed with the very spiritual and Biblical way the author treated this topic.  She answered the difficult questions--is my baby in heaven, can God forgive me, etc.  And she uses Bible stories in ways I have never seen.  In fact, she retells them in a very readable fashion that speaks to the women to whom she is ministering.  I also loved all the practical information she gave her readers.

I appreciated the fact that Kim Ketola researched her facts and shared information that kind of shocked me concerning abortion.  I don't want to give everything away, but I had no idea what the real statistics are concerning abortion were.  And I have never considered all the reasons someone might get an abortion.  This was truly an eye-opening book that was well-written and heartfelt.  It is a definite read for anyone who has ever had an abortion.

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.  I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
