Most of you have probably heard of Al Capone, and today's feature concerns his crumbling Chicago empire.  It was on this date in 1931, that Al Capone was convicted of tax evasion (of all things!).  He was sentenced to eleven years in federal prison and ordered to pay all the money back with interest in addition to a fee.  Even though the money had been earned illegally, he was still required to pay taxes on it.  Quite an interesting little tidbit of news, to be sure.
