I could not have read this book at a better time--for sure!  A political book during a very busy election year!  And this book does not disappoint--in so many ways.  I honestly think I can say that there is something for everyone in this book, and I feel it will appeal to many different kinds of readers.

I will admit, I am a sucker for a sweet romance, and I loved  the romance between Stephen and Anne.  I am so glad that we did not follow this couple into the bedroom, and although their morals aren't the best, they are better than some romances I have read.  I never felt that the romance was sappy--it seemed quite genuine.  I could have done without the profanity in the book, but at least it wasn't too rampant.

There was another moral issue for me, but in light of the political environment, it is the only response.  There is much deception throughout the book, and I know that there are always half-truths and outright lies in politics.  I could never work in the political world--I'm just too open and honest.  But I will say that Stephen and his family are absolute experts in this arena.  Yes, there were references to the Clinton-intern scandal, and sometimes there was the concern that this romance was headed  down the same path--so glad it didn't.

If you are in the mood for a romance with some dirty politics on the side, this book is definitely for you.  And the author's writing style is readable--the dialogue especially seems to be authentic.
