David Bowman's What Would the Founding Fathers Think? Blog Tour

Book Description: What if the Founding Fathers could see our nation today?
What would they say to the next generation about it?
JOIN Washington, Franklin, and Madison (via SKYPE/CHAT session) as they discuss our country’s current crisis as compared to their original intentions for America. With wit, humor, and variety of visuals, David Bowman skillfully teaches pre-teens alike the wisdom of returning to our nation’s founding principles, and in a way that they will “get it”.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am an educator by profession, and social studies/history is probably what I am most passionate about.  I have taught long enough to realize that the generation coming up does not know U.S. history.  All too often, when it is taught, the students hate it because it is taught in such a boring manner. I have been absolutely appalled at the misinformation and lack of knowledge out there about our country's origin.  It is said that the majority of Americans would not even be able to pass the test for becoming an American citizen.

David Bowman has indeed written an exquisite book that fits a real need that is often overlooked.  Due to all the mandated state testing, history usually gets swept under the carpet.  And on the off chance that U.S. history is mentioned, the textbooks only barely scratch the surface.  They try to take religion and God completely out of the history of our country.  This book fills in the gap in a fun way.  As I was reading, I was enjoying it, and I realized that my nearly nine-year-old daughter would like it as well.  How nice to read about the real history of the U.S. in a fun and entertaining way.

I am sure there are those who feel that Bowman writes with a biased agenda.  Well, I guess if you call pointing out the problems with America a biased agenda, you just might be right.  I think everyone can agree that there is something wrong with our country, and if things continue the way they are going, America as we know it will truly pass away.

I highly recommend this book to children, educators, and parents.  It is book that will truly give you a balanced perspective on the history of our wonderful country.  Our founding fathers would be both amazed and horrified if they saw us now, and it is up to the younger generation to see that we go in the right direction!

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.  I was not financially compensated and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
