It was on this date in 1964 that Lee Iacocca unveiled Ford's Mustang at the World's Fair in Flushing Meadows, New York. That very day, about 22,000 of these were snapped up all over the country. These were known as the working man's Thunderbird, and they originally sold for $2300. These cars were so popular that by March 1966, the one millionth Mustang were sold. And in honor of the 35th anniversary of these cars, the U.S. Post Office issued a commemorative stamp in 1999. As of today, there have been more than 9 million Ford Mustangs sold.
