This Day in History July 26, 1788

Well, on this date in 1788, New York became the 11th state in our wonderful country!  And I, for one, am very glad it is a part of our country.  It has certainly made some significant contributions to the arts--I still remember going there to see The Phantom of the Opera in 1992.  I will never forget it as long as I live.  I could go on and on about my time there.

And lest we forget, our very freedom was attacked on September 11, 2001--another day I shall never forget, and I would be most Americans will never forget either.

Is New York a perfect state?  Absolutely not!  And my hat is off to those who live there--I wouldn't do well living in the big city.  Give me the country any day!  But it is a vibrant part of our country, and I am glad that they are part of our country--it is one of the original 13 colonies.
