Lazy Days of Summer Giveaway Hop
July 27th to August 1st
Hosted by Colorimety & I Am A Reader, Not A Writer
I want to welcome you to my stop on this blog giveaway hop. I racked my brain yesterday thinking of something just a little bit different, and I think I came up with it! The prize offered will be a book of your choosing (as long as it is not over $15) from book depository or Amazon, and the giveaway is open worldwide. I know, that's kind of boring, but that is not the interesting part.
If you are like me, you have a massive wish list or TBR list or whatever you would like to call it. I have literally thousands of books on my list, and sometimes it can be overwhelming to pick the next book I get to read for fun (that is, if I can ever stop agreeing to read books per author and tour company requests). I don't know if you ever have this problem, but I do.
There are several ways you can choose the next book. You can take a book recommendation from one of your friends. You can walk to book shelf (or pile) and randomly select the next book. You can even go to a site like Book Seer, put in the last book you read, and find out your next recommendation. Amazon and other sites have similar features. There is even one that I read about where you go to random.org, put in the number of books you have on your list (1 to whatever) and have the site give you a number. You go back to you list, find the number on your list, and that is the book you read next.
So, my dear readers, carefully read your entry options on the rafflecopter form. The giveaway ends August 1 at 9:00 P.M. Pacific time. And don't forget to hop on to the next blog on the list for more chances to win!
And just so you don't think I am asking you to do something I wouldn't, I am going to try the last method I talked about. I will not use the information to choose my next book, but I will at least give the method a go. I have 1645 books on my TBR list (one of many lists I could have used), and random.org chose #1438. And this is the book it says I should read:
Interesting. This actually has over 900 reviews, and most are positive. This is an author I have never read before. I just might have to check into it.
Have fun!
a Rafflecopter giveaway
Here is the code for the linky:
To be honest i don't need a method at the momentn i've entered a challenge so i read the books that enter those and if i get a book for review it has the priority
ReplyDeleteso now it will be the secret life of copernicus springfellow- review
I used the Book Seer which is a real fun site and my result was "The Clockwork Teddy" by John Lamb. Cozy mystery, yay!
ReplyDeleteI went to the BookSeer and let them know read The Hunt and they recommended among others, Monument 14 which I would love to get! Thanks for the chance to win. Awesome site:)
ReplyDeleteI went to the book seer and it recommended Seraphina.
ReplyDeleteI used the BookSeer and one that they recommended was The Maze Runner
ReplyDeleteI went to BookSeer and they recomended Legend.
ReplyDeleteAh, I'm currently reading Going Too Far too! I'm halfway finish and it's really great, I tell you. Anyway, for my next read, I tried to use random generator method. Among hundreds books in my TBR list, I got number 43, which is Unearthly by Cynthia Hand :D
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway!
Hope you enjoy Going Too Far`
I tried two of your methods. I walked to my bookshelf & randomly picked out Deadly Embrace by Jackie Collins, so I'll be reading that next. I also went to the Book Seer site & it recommended I read New Moon by Stephanie Meyer, but I've already read it & love it. Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteI did the random.org method, my TBR doesn't cross 100 books, I think I'd be dizzy if I had to choose a book to read from hundreds of books. It generated number 7 so I ended up with The Tale of the Body Thief by Anne Rice, I have like 6 of The Vampire Chronicles books and I haven't read any yet. I guess it's time to hop to it and start one.
ReplyDeleteI did the random.org method. My TBR (of books I own anyway) is 115 books. Not too, too bad. I drew number 18 which is Sweet Evil by Terra Lynn Childs. Don't know when I'll have a chance to get to it, but it's on the list!
ReplyDeleteBook Seer was fun, just tried it. I am reading Pandora's Box by Katie Salidas and it suggested Soulstone next book in the series.
ReplyDeleteI took a book recommendation from one of my friends. She recommended me to read City of Bones. Now I'm going to read it.
ReplyDeleteChristina K. in the rafflecopter
ReplyDeleteI picked a letter in the alphabet and chose the first book on the shelf whose title started with that letter.

ReplyDeleteI have had The First Grave on the Right in my TBR pile for ever, well actually all the books out so far in the series and I just never get to them, for the same reasons you mentioned so I decided to join a read a long and get it done. Not only do I get to read a great book but I get to discuss it with fellow bloggers and have fun too!
ReplyDeleteI went with Random.org I have 177 book on my TBR list it chose #38 which is Sever by Lauren Destefano-book 3 of a series so since I haven't read book 1 maybe I'll try book1 which is Wither. I kind of like this way of choosing bewcause I am feeling buried and unsure of what to read next too!
ReplyDeleteI put a random pile of books on my bed and closing my eyes, pointed my finger at the one I would read. My finger chose Hallowed by Cynthia Hand. :)
ReplyDeleteAll I do is choosing one book that appeals to me from my bookshelf
ReplyDelete-wni

ReplyDeleteI also went with random.org and got Fallen In Love by Lauren Kate. :)

ReplyDeleteI used random.org and I got Nevermore which is on my shelf and I always find some other book to read.
ReplyDeleteI used Book Seer and it told me to read Such a Rush. It's kind of funny because that's the book I'm starting to read already. :D Think I'm going to use this website from now on :D
ReplyDeleteI used random.org and got Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare :)
ReplyDeleteI used random.org and got

ReplyDeleteI've thought I was the only who had used random.org to choose my next book! The method I use today to pick my book is looking at my bookshelf and seeing what book catches my attention first. So this time my next book will be Rites of Spring Break by Diana Peterfreund.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
the book seer says I should read
ReplyDeleteShadow of Night: A Novel (All Souls Trilogy) by Deborah Harkness
I`m very choosy about the book I want to read next, but still I`ve tried Pick-It-For-Me challenges and random.org AND nothing works. I usually spend like a day thinking which book I could start and then just decide by the titles or covers :D
ReplyDeleteThis time I think I`ll read Crash by nicole williams because it kind of reminds me of Beautiful Disaster
According to Book Seer (I just finished Cinder by Marissa Meyer), my next book should be:

I gave my last book (Crown of Embers by Rae Carson) to the Book Seer and it gave me"
ReplyDeleteSeraphina by Rachel Hartman
Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke and Bone) by Laini Taylor

The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Defiance by C. J. Redwine

I have all my books cataloged on my Reader-wear software. If I don't already have my next book chosen, I go to it and randomly choose a page and then a book. If it is a series book then I read the first (and usually all the rest I have on hand)
ReplyDeleteGoing by my Goodreads TBR list, random.org gave me the number for a book that doesn't come out until next year, so I did it again and got Drink Deep by Chloe Neill, which is funny 'cause that's the next book I'm buying!
ReplyDeleteMine's easy. I want to read Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. I just finished Hunger Games.
ReplyDeletemagic5905 at embarqmail dot com

Very interesting, thanks for the link Ruth.
ReplyDeleteMy book is # by Book Seer - recommended Amazon too
# Pride and Prejudice (Dover Thrift Editions) by Jane Austen
as I read Jane Eyre by Charolette Bronte, always keep reading this amazing book.
I used the Book seer and I got 10 hits and combined with random.org I got Such a Rush... But I usually don't decide like that. I love to pick out my own books and I do it when I know I've won. I don't like to get my hopes up... Thanks for the great giveaway and for making it international!
ReplyDeleteI used the app, Seer as provided and it gave me a list of 10 books, of which I do have some on my TBR list! They're pretty good, but I usually choose my reads based on my reading schedule and commitment with publishers! :D
ReplyDeleteI layed 10 'books in waiting' across the floor and carried one of my cats into the room and I went with the one he wandered to 1st-good choice, an ARC I won by Lisa Kleypas. Thanks Abe! :) barkergirl33@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteI used bookseer.com. Great site! It recommended about 10 books (half of which I read and a few others on my wish list). Divergent was the first on the list and I love that book! Thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteI used Book Seer (last book that I read was Shadows by Jennifer L. Armentrout) and one of the books that was recommended was Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I have pre-ordered it and I can't wait to receive and read it.
ReplyDeletejmesparza821(at)gmail(dot)com
I used the Book Seer, and since one of the last I read for pleasure (it was a review book, ARC, but I LOVED it, so it was pleasure too, lol) Moonglow by Kristen Callihan so it tells me to read Firelight or Ember by same author, so I will do both. I already had bought them, just had not read them yet. SO I will read them, as soon as the 2 review books I am in the middle of are done. :)
ReplyDeleteI use my friends' recommendations, and because of them I became a huge fan of Jennifer Armentrout.
ReplyDeleteI chose the Book seer and it suggested

Usually, I take a book recommendation from one of my friends. Other times, I find out what people is reading on Goodreads. If they rave about a particular book, a good rave, of course :D and it happens that the very same book is on my TBR list then I might go with it :)
ReplyDeleteI've closed my eyes and chose one book at random from my TBR pile. I got a battered copy The Chamber by John Grisham that has been sitting the for quite a while. I've already started and can't believe I waited for so long to read it! It's impossible to put down.
ReplyDeleteI used book seer and it recommended me the books:
ReplyDeleteThe Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight

Some of the other book recommendations I've already read, or have already planned on reading.

ReplyDeleteBook Seer (thanks for introducing this one!) had Cinder: Book One in the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer in the list. And I have that one sitting in my pile. woot.
ReplyDeleteWow! How come I have never heard of Book Seer?!?! It is such a great site. The last book I read was Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers and it has recommended me to read Seraphine and Shadow and Bone, both of which are great books as far as I have heard. Thanks a million for introducing this amazing site!
ReplyDeleteI did the last option too! I have 125 books on my shelf that I haven't read and random.org picked #32 which is Firelight by Sophie Jordan.
ReplyDeleteBook Seer picked Throne of Glass...which is great b/c that was one of my next week picks!
ReplyDeleteI randomized my TBR list for August and according to Random.org I should read The Curious Incident of Dog in Nighttime first thing this August!
ReplyDeleteI used the Amazon recommendation and it suggested THE LADY IS A VAMP by Lynsay Sands....but I will have to buy that book today, lol.
ReplyDeleteI tried the Book Seer & got 10 amazing recommendations that I still haven't read, one of which is A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness, including it's sequel, and I was planning to read it soon anyway, so now I have my next read ;)
ReplyDeleteI went to Book Seer, and it told me that after reading Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi, I should try Starters by Lissa Price. Very cool, I'm going to have to use that site again...not that I really NEED more recommendations since I'm like you with thousands of books on my TBR list lol. Thanks for the great giveaway (and the fun book picking ideas). :-)
ReplyDeleteI used The Book Seer and it didn't work for the last book I read (Peter Pan) so I used one of my recent 5-star reads (Divergent), and although it recommended Divergent to me twice, it did give me other options like the Maze Runner series
ReplyDeleteI don't really have a system...I read for tours and in between I read my ARC's!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a system. Just pick up other book and it's all.
ReplyDeleteI spun around blind folded and I picked! *NOTE: do not do this if you vomit easily*
ReplyDeleteI like getting recommendations and For Darkness Shows the Stars was one of them.
ReplyDeleteI also used Book Seer, very cool! I put in Under the Never Sky and got:
Insurgent (Divergent) by Veronica Roth
Starters by Lissa Price
Partials by Dan Wells
Enclave by Ann Aguirre
Incarnate by Jodi Meadows
The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson
The Selection by Kiera Cass
Legend by Marie Lu
Article 5: Compliance is Mandatory by Kristen Simmons
Cinder: Book One in the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
Very interesting!

I tried Book Seer and at the top of the recommendations is Wicked Nights by Gena Showalter. That's now at the top of my TBR pile.
ReplyDeleteI tried the random.org and it said my next read should be "Wicked Woods" by Kaitlin Gow.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway =D
