Los Del Rio - Macarenafound onDance                              
I remember the popularity of this dance, but I had no idea that it went all the way back to this date.  Yes, it was on this date in 1996 that the Macarena reached the top of the American music charts.  And the video above features that wonderful group--Los Del Rio.  Please don't feel you have to listen to the entire song--it does get annoying after a while!  But I remember the students I was teaching around that time could not get enough of the song!  And guest how long the song stayed on the charts.  60 weeks!  Good grief, how pathetic!  In 2002, VH1 ranked it #1 One-Hit Wonder of All-Time.
