Hiding Gladys (Cleo Cooper Mystery, #1)Hiding Gladys by Lee Mims
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sometimes it is really tough to know what rating to give a book.  And this one happens to be one of those books.  This is the first book I have ever read by Lee Mims, and it was easy to tell that she knew about geology.  She added in plenty of details, and her writing style was very readable.  In fact, there was never a dull moment.  And even though the reader is pretty sure about who is involved, I have to say that the author put in a twist I didn't see coming.

What I appreciated about Cleo (and Gladys) was that they are older women who do not slow down!  Okay, so I'm not 40 yet, but I'm getting there.  I love the fact that these women show that age is truly just a number.  I love the fact that authors are writing more than YA and 20-something romances.

Speaking of romance, I found it ingenious that the author has Cleo still attracted to her ex.  And since this is a series, I hope to see these two again!  I would love to see more romance between them.  They can stay out of the bedroom--I would prefer that.  But thankfully the author gives her characters privacy in the bedroom.  I could do without the profanity as well, but again, that is just personal preference.

I have chosen to give the book a five star rating.  While I would have loved for this to have been a cozy mystery (no profanity, no sex, a fuzzy and warm plot), it is well written and a mystery where the bad guys get their due and lives go on the way they should.  And it is a quick read.  I would certainly come back for the next installment.

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.  I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
