This Day in History March 7, 1875

Hopefully, you have heard of this Impressionist composer, but I know the chances may be slim.  It was on this date in 1875 that Maurice Ravel was born in the beautiful country of France.  While he is placed in the category of Impressionism, it is true that his music tends to be much more classical than that of his contemporary Claude Debussy.  If you are totally confused right now, don't worry.  Impressionism is something that I still struggle to understand.  And if you are not familiar with it at all, it is not easily described.

Ravel is not one whose compositions are widely known--I am not a huge fan of his music.  However, this is one piece that I do like.  It is called Bolero.
