This Day in History November 2, 1889

On this date in 1889, something happened that only happened this one time in our history.  Both North and South Dakota were admitted to the Union on the same day.  They decided to divide the territory in half due to population of Dakota Territory.  Kind of interesting since I don't think either of these are terribly populated today.
