I found this quite intriguing, and I can only imagine the uproar back then and how much there would be today. On this date in 1908, Cincinnati mayor Mark Breith (evidently a rather misguided idiot, for lack of a better term) stood before the city council and declared that "women are not physically fit to operate automobiles." I wonder if the man was even married! Victorian women were often viewed as fragile and unable to operate machinery. Aren't you glad that things have changed?
