This Day in History March 11, 2009

Very quick tonight--we have major family issues, and I am spending an unexpected night away from home.  But I am glad I was able to do this tonight.

It was on this date in 2009 that Toyota announced it had sold one million hybrid cars in the U.S.  When the Prius first launched in 1997, it was considered a gamble.  After all, gas was cheap (weren't those the days?). During that same week, GM announced it had made it 100,000th hybrid vehicle.

I must say that hybrids sound great, but the price tag is usually too much for me.  But they must be better than Chevy Volts!

  1. Hybrids are expensive! My Toyota Camry gets 28 MPG. I am happy with that! They have some really cool small cars and they are becoming more affordable and reliable. SOmeday maybe I will be driving one of those one passenger cars!

    Have a wonderful Sunday.
