This is a photo of the Andromeda galaxy, and today's feature concerns the constellation.  But evidently the galaxy is located in the constellation, so there shouldn't be a problem in showing this picture.   It was on this date in 1885 when there was quite a meteor shower near Andromeda.  It was chronicled by Chinese astronomers, and it was described in this way: "shooting stars fell like rain."   The most spectacular storms in this area were 1872 and 1885.  It is estimated that on this date in 1885 that there were 3,000 meteors in this particular shower that fell in an hour.  This must have been an amazing sight to see!
