"Jack Templar: Monster Hunter" by Jeff Gunhus Book Review

Jack Templar, Monster Hunter (The Templar Chronicles, #1)Jack Templar, Monster Hunter by Jeff Gunhus
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Let me begin by saying I am not a person who enjoys monsters.  I don't read books about vampires, zombies, goblins, or anything like that.  Once in a while, I will push myself to read a fantasy book, and I sometimes enjoy it.  I have sometimes been told that I automatically mark down fantasies because it is not my genre of choice.  Read this review, and I think you might realize just how wrong you would be if you thought that!

I will first draw your attention to the rating.  I gave it a rating of a five because it is well-written, clean, and in so many ways the perfect young adult book.  It is nice and short, and the story is fast-paced.  The characters are well-developed, and there were many surprises along the way.  It is clear the author has a sense of humor.  Be sure to check out the warning along the way.

I couldn't help but think that my daughter would love this book.  It is not too scary.  But you do have to suspend reality to read this book and truly appreciate it.  It is one of the better fantasy books I've read (if you can class it as such).  I wasn't sure I would be interested in the sequel, but in light of the ending, I think I am intrigued enough to give it a read.  I found nothing inappropriate in the book, and I can recommend this to anyone who wants to a quick read with a change of pace.

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.  I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
