Blog Tour: "The Reluctant Bachelorette" by Rachael Anderson Book Review

The Reluctant Bachelorette by Rachael Anderson
Unknowingly cast as the bachelorette for her town’s charity event, Taycee Emerson wants out. Especially when she discovers her old teenage crush, Luke Carney, is one of the bachelors and it's up to the viewers--not her--to decide which bachelors stay or go.

Coerced into participating, Taycee does what any self-preserving girl would do. She launches a subtle attack on Luke’s good name with the hope of getting him voted off the show. Unfortunately, Luke's an eye-for-an-eye kind of guy, and when he discovers what she's up to, it means revenge.

But when their pranks go south, will they screw up any chance they have at a future together, or will they be able to forgive and forget and prove that love really does conquer all?

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
How nice to read a completely clean romance!  No profanity (of any kind), and no sex scenes--not even any innuendoes!  This is honestly the major strength of this book.  It is a clean, light read, and it will appeal to the hopeless romantics out there.

I really did enjoy the premise of the book--a small-town Bachelorette show for charity.  There were a few moments of irony that did keep my interest, but I also found the typical stereotypical characters.  I didn't feel I connected with this romance the way I normally connect with them.  I also felt that the characters were nice but only 2-dimensional at best.  And--I have to say this--it is a sappy romance.  Not as bad as some I have read, but it still is.

This book is truly a nice, light romance that can be read in the span of a few hours.  I did feel that I was compelled to finish it because I wanted to see exactly how things worked out.  The humor is light (but I wish there had been more, as is the romance.  I am glad that the message of telling the truth is stressed.  That is probably the only moral message in the book, but it certainly comes across well.

If you are looking for a clean romance, this is definitely the book for you.  I certainly would read more books from this author in the future!

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.  I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.

About the Author:
Rachael Anderson is the author of four contemporary romances: Divinely Designed, Luck of the Draw, Minor Adjustments, and The Reluctant Bachelorette. She's the mother of four, can't sing, doesn't dance, and despises tragedies. But she recently figured out how yeast works and can now make homemade bread, which she is really good at eating.
