Well, I will admit that I am a more recent fan of this group, and I have my friend in England to thank for my musical knowledge.  It was on this date in 1986, that the third annual MTV awards was held in Los Angeles.  It just so happens that the Norwegian group A-ha won eight awards for their song Take on Me. They dominated the music awards that year, and you can see their award-winning music video below.

I have to admit that for a rock group,  A-ha is truly unbelievable.  Morten Harket has an unbelievable falsetto range, and this song drew me in the moment I heard it.  I am a soprano, and this is one of those songs where he starts out low and actually gets up into my range!  The strength in his vibrato is also amazing.  Nothing wishy-washy or namby-pamby about it (okay, I never use those words, but they seem to fit!).  Unfortunately, the group officially broke up just last year.  But I am sure their music will be around for years to come.  After all, they are featured on Wii's Just Dance 3.  I know because I just got that game and played it at the end of last week.
