Blog Tour: "Living in the Light" by Lacey West and Gary L. Anderson Book Review

Depression and Anxiety have become an epidemic, affecting millions world-wide. Christian individuals are no exception. Living in the Light provides techniques to conquer feelings related to discouragement, anxiety, low self-esteem, or any other inadequacy. The book reveals the powerful combination of cognitive therapy mixed with gospel principles. It inspires one to rise above the darkness of this world by introducing analogies pertaining to the symbolic nature of light and dark.
Although Satan is attacking people with his evil tool of discouragement, we can be prepared to fight back. Living in the Light will help you regain your life, your peace, and your happiness. Walk away from the dark...and into the light.

Living in the Light: How to Fight the Darkness and Anxiety of DepressionLiving in the Light: How to Fight the Darkness and Anxiety of Depression by Lacey A. West RN, BSN and Gary L. Anderson MS, LPC
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a fantastic, easy-to-read book this was, and I can heartily recommend this book to everyone--not just those that suffer from depression.  This book deals with the real issues behind depression--spiritual, mental, etc.  She gives a lot of great, practical advice, and I found myself learning many things about negative self-talk, "I should" dangers, and even simple things like food and sleep.  I have never been depressed, or at least clinically depressed, but I found myself seeing a lot of valuable advice.

What I appreciated most were the spiritual aspects she brought out in this book.  While I am not a Mormon, it does not mean that I cannot read and appreciate truth.  And she shared much truth.  In fact, I was finishing this book following the horrible school shooting in Connecticut, and I found many of her words comforting in light of that.  It is good to remember who the enemy is and what God desires for us.  And her book will definitely help you do that.

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.  I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.
