Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1)Cinder by Marissa Meyer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a book I have wanted to read almost from the moment it came out.  After all, it is based on Cinderella, it is science fiction, and it written by someone from my hometown--Tacoma, Washington!  I had this book sitting on my bookshelf for several months before I had the moment to pick it up and read it.  And read it I did!  Trying to explain this book to anyone is almost as impossible as explaining "The Hunger Games."  Yes, I do liken this to that book.  It is as well-written, and it has no profanity nor sex scenes.  Go figure!  I wish someone would pick it up and make a film because I am certain it would do well!

I can't say enough about this book.  I don't want to add any spoilers, so let's just say this.  I am not a science fiction fan, but there are those books and stories that make me like the genre.  And this is one of them.  This is an all-around good story.  Marissa Meyer has a way of making this story make sense even though it is so futuristic.  The terms she uses that aren't "real" terms in this day and age actually make sense.  I didn't even need a dictionary for them.  I cannot wait to read the sequel!

This is not part of a blog tour.  I won this book earlier this year, and  I finally read it!

Marissa Meyer lives in Tacoma, Washington, with her husband and three cats. She’s a fan of most things geeky (Sailor Moon, Firefly, color-coordinating her bookshelf . . .), and has been in love with fairy tales since she was given a small book of them when she was a child. She may or may not be a cyborg. Cinder is her first novel.
