First Impressions: Wedding Invitations

First impressions are absolutely paramount in almost every situation.  And your wedding is no exception.  Wedding invitations are the first things your guests will see, and they are often the first thing that the groom and bride will choose for their big day.  I remember how important wedding invitations were for my wedding day.  I spent long hours looking through catalogs and getting everything just right. The choices are endless when it comes to invitations--everything from generic to theme-based to everything in between.

Perhaps your wedding has a beach theme, and if that is the case, you may wish to choose a Coral Wedding Invitation.  What could be better than sending out a unique design like this to your friends and families so they can know to expect a fun and memorable day with the bride and groom?

When you send out a wedding invitation, the tradition is to send an RSVP card with the invitation.  Including these cards is a simple way of making sure that you receive all the pertinent information from your guests that you need to plan your reception.  Some choose to keep these cards very simple with only the absolute essential contact information and who will be in attendance at the wedding.  Some choose to add more information such as meal choice, potential allergens, special requests, and more.  It is up to you how detailed this card is, but it is good to remember that the more information you receive from your guests, the more you are able to plan for any potential problems or issues.

The wording of your wedding invitation is probably the most important consideration.  You need to know wedding etiquette, and it is important that you follow this.  Do a little research in order not to offend the hosts and your guests.  Some of the questions you will want to ask would include:

  • Who is paying for the wedding?
  • Are the families of both the bride and groom going to be involved?
  • Who is hosting the wedding?
And that will only scratch the surface, but you will be well on your way to getting your wording the way you want it to be as well as the way it should be.  This is your special day, and you want to make sure that the wedding invitations complement your wedding rather than detract from it.
