Blurb:

Ashton Summers is on her way to becoming the most popular girl in school and nothing—or no one—is going to stand in her way. Especially not Luca Byron, her freak neighbor, with his tattoos, loud music, and distracting green eyes.

Luca Byron has three goals in life: get through high school with a low profile, make sure his garage band becomes something more than a hobby, and try to forget about his insufferable ex-best friend, Ashton, who he can’t get out of his mind.

The last thing Ashton and Luca want to do is rekindle their friendship, but when Ashton takes a tumble down the social ladder, Luca—with his new makeover—is the only one who can help her rise up again by pretending to be her boyfriend. At first, being together is unbearable and annoying, but things start to change as Ashton and Luca discover the real reasons they drifted apart seven years ago.

Now, keeping their hands off each other seems impossible.

Impossible (With Me, #1)Impossible by Komal Lewis
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

First of all, this book was just not my cup of tea.  Basically, it was fairly well-written, and it was a typical young adult novel.  The romance was typical--nothing out of the ordinary.  And I suppose it ended as many YA romances do.

My biggest problem with this book was that I would not feel comfortable having any teenagers that I know and care about read this book.  It is definitely only for age 18+, but it would appear to be written for high school students.  The profanity in the book is a problem for me, but I guess that is often the way teenagers talk today.

If you want a quick young adult romance, this might be a consideration as long as you take into consideration the issues I mentioned.

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.  I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.

Top 10 list (by the author)

Instead of doing the Top 10 List from my point of view, I decided to do them from my two main characters point of views and gave them five things each to list.

_____________________________________________________________________________

Komal: It hasn’t been too long since I finished high school (four years, actually), so I think I’m still in touch with my teenager side, yo.
Ashton: You did not just say “yo”.
Komal: Wha-at? The peeps still say that these days, don’t they?
Luca: *face palm* Peeps?
Komal: Hey! I’m cool! I’m up-to-date with the times.
*crickets chirp*
Ashton: Um, I think Luca and me should take it from here. Why don’t you go and do something more, um, age appropriate?
Luca: …Like knit a scarf or throw a Tupperware party?
Komal: Hey! Where are you guys going? This was supposed to be my ‘Top 10 List’! You two are SO dying in a tragic ski accident in the next book!

‘Top 5 Pet Peeves in High School’ by Ashton Summers

Ashton: There are so many things that peeve me in high school, but I promised to keep this short, so here goes.

1. When you’re sitting at a desk and you absently slip your hand beneath it and someone has stuck their disgusting gum underneath the desk!

2. Those couples that are ALWAYS making out. Except I think Luca and me are slowly becoming one of those couples. Oh no!

3. The cafeteria food sucks! Why does it taste like microwaved plastic?
Luca: That’s why I always get Riley to bring me food from home.
Ashton: Luca, this is my list!
Luca: And what a fine list it is.

4. I know I used to be a cheerleader, but I actually hate gym. And the smell from the gym is super gross. Ugh.

5. The fact that our school doesn’t have a car park for the students. So annoying.
Luca: You don’t even drive.
Ashton: Luca, get out of my list!
Luca: I’m going, I’m going. It’s my turn anyway, Princess.

‘Top 5 Pet Peeves in High School’ by Luca Byron

Luca: I found it hard to stop at five things, but somehow I managed it. So, here’s my list.

1. Those complicated algorithms you get in Math. Seriously, when am I ever going to need to know how to solve one of those things in the real world? I reckon it’s a form of torture designed to bore us to death.

2. Teachers that hate you for no reason, just because you happened to fall asleep in class a few times.

3. Detention sucks, especially when Mr. Kowalski is sneezing like a trombone the entire time. I suggest you don’t sit in the front row.

4. Those stupid cliques that everyone is in. Okay, so I’m in one too, but I don’t have a problem talking to someone outside of my group.

5. When certain people bully someone from a different clique.
Ashton: I’m not like that anymore…
Luca: Hey, I’m glad you’re not. I couldn’t stand it if you were the same selfish, stuck-up, arrogant, self-absorbed…
Ashton: Oh my gosh, I think everyone gets it! I was mean, okay?

It sounds like it might be something different to read and my young adult niece might like to read it also. Thanks for the giveaway.
